Confectioner's glaze is normally shellac, a resin from lac insects, which we mark Doubtful · high. It can be plant-based (for example zein), but the label doesn't say, so it is Doubtful · high unless the maker confirms it is not shellac.

Darulfatwa – Islamic High Council of Australia · فصل في معاصي البطنج: يحرم أكل المسكر، وكذلك يحرم أكل النجس والمستقذر كالمني وإن كان طاهراً.
